14.10.08 — Presentation of Coalition on support to Azerbaijan's WTO Accession and project called "Increasing awareness of private sector about effects of WTO accession" will be taken place.
Global Economic Researches Center , Azerbaijan Marketing Society and Praxis Support to Social Development NGO agreed to establish coalition for support government in the direction of Azerbaijan's WTO accession. Therefore these organizations came together to prepare and implement projects for achieving stressed above. As a result first project of Coalition was approved in the discussions with USAID and Counterpart International. These organizations will fund the project implementation. Meeting requirements of coalition's activity goals this project will encompass activities on increasing of private sector awareness about effects o WTO accession and presenting business advocacy in this regard. For presenting project to society, coalition members decided to organize presentation. Presentation will be held tomorrow in the office of Azerbaijan Marketing Society. It will start at 11:00 A.M.
14.10.08— GERC experts gave a lecture to media representatives on Social Responsibility.
Today our experts participated in the Training-Seminar organized by local representative of "Global Compact Initiative" for media representatives. Local representative of Global Compact Initiative decided to invite experts of GERC as lectures for highlighting Social Responsibility issues in the training-seminar organized for media representatives. Experts of Center gave lectures on "CSR activities in Azerbaijan and international experience" and "International Standardization Organization (ISO) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)". Officials of UN Local Office and AZPROMO organization, experts from two NGOs and about 15 media representatives participated in the training-seminar. President of AZPROMO Mr. Emil Majidov, UN resident Representative in Azerbaijan Mr. Bruno Puyeza and Government and Public Relations Manager of Statoil Hydro oil company Ms. Baiba Rubesa took a word and greeted the participants informing them about social responsibility and their value in the globalizing world. Then lectures started to inform p-participants on following issues: “UN's Global Compact Initiative” - Manager of "Global Compact" project in Azerbaijan. ; “Perspectives of Global Compact Network in Azerbaijan” – Head of Board of Directors of Azerbaijan Marketing Society; “CSR activities in Azerbaijan and International experience” – Executive director of GERC Mr. Ruslan Atakishiyev; “International Standardization Organization (ISO) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)” – Head of Department of GERC Mr. Elkhan Mikayilov; “Garadagh Cement activities in the field of CSR” – Relation and Social Issues Manager Ms. Rana Tahirova.
In the end Mr. Hasan Huseynov thanked all participants for attendance.
10.10.08— GERC experts will give a lecture on Cooperate Social Responsibility(CSR) in the Training-Seminar which will be organized for media representatives on Global Compact Initiative.
GERC intensified its cooperation activities with local representative of Global Compact Initiative after joining to it. As a result, Local Representative sent official letter to Center where invitation for participation of our experts as a lectures were written. Kindly, accepting this invitation GERC ratified participation of two experts in the training-seminar. They will give a lecture on "CSR activities in Azerbaijan and international experience". Training-seminar will be held in the "Nasimi" hall of the Park Inn hotel.
08.10.08— GERC were again stressed as a partner in the conference on "Development ways of Small Enterpreneurship"
Today GERC representatives have participated in the conference on "Development ways of Small Enterpreneurship". Conference was organized by the Aid Fund for Development of Enterpreneurship and Market Economy. Large information on development of business envirionment was given during the conference. Thus, activities of Fund and other partner organizations involved to the Coalition on development of Business envirionemet espessialy on conducted surveys, meetings with business sector representatives, analyses of legislation were represented to society. Opening the conference head of Fund Mr. Sabit bagirov informed particpants about agenda of conference and organizations involved to activities which would be highlighted during the conference. Also Mr. Bagirov again stressed GERC as a partner in all activities organized in the frame of Coalition on development of Business envirionment. Also Mr. Bagirov gave a word to Executive Director of GERC Mr. Ruslan Atakishiyev. Mr. Atakishiyev informed participants about asctivities implemented by our organization on development of business envirionment and problems of regional enterpreneurs.
01.10.08—GERC joined to the implementation of new project financed by USAID.
Thus the basic assumption of this project is that that business advocacy, if properly organized and practiced, may help our society reach policy decisions and function more effectively by contributing to mutual understanding between government, business and civil society.The long-term goal of this project is to achieve more active participation of the private sector in the WTO accession process and improving legislations in accordance with WTO requirements. The main results of this campaign can be described as follow increasing the awareness of enterprisers willing and ready to be a driving force for Azerbaijan’s integration into the global trade system and development of their capacities for efficient advocacy and better policy decisions related to Azerbaijan’s accession to the WTO.
11.09.08— GERC organized seminar in Seki city.
Our Center realized its next seminar in the frame of the project called "Gathering proposals for more developing business environment in Azerbaijan" in Sheki city on September 11 th. About 22 entrepreneurs participated in the seminar.Firstly, the expert of GERC Mr. Atakishiyev informed entrepreneurs about "Doing business" and it's indicataors. After it Expert invited enterpreneurs to join discussion on business climate in Azerbaijan. In the end, it was identified that the main problems of them were lack of financial resources, unsuitable credit terms, obtaining documents of ownership to lands, big amount of tax, social payments and etc.
09.09.08— Expert of GERC and ISO Mr. Elkhan Mikayilov returned from Chilie Conference.
For discussing on 5000 proposals given on project of İSO 26000 standard meeting was organized in the capital of Chilie, Santiago. Azerbaijan was represented in this meeting by Mr. Elkhan Mikayilov. Mr. Mikayilov was chousen by the local NGO group to participate in the conference. 400 experts and observers from 80 countries attented. Three big events were held during the conference: International conference on “The role of goverment in Social Responsibility” (1 day), Global Forum of ISO on “Social Responsibility of İSO in the developing countriesi” (2 days), 6th Plenar meeting of ISO on Social Responsibility (5 days). Mr. Mikayilov presented his offers about Soical Responsibility to ISO for preparation of the standard as a representative of the goverment and NGO's of Azerbaijan.

05.09.08— GERC will organize seminars in the frame of project for developing business environment.
According to the agreement between GERC and Aid Fund for Development of Market Economy our organization will organize 6 seminars in the regional centers of Azerbaijan. Expert of GERC candidate of Economic Sciences Mr. Ruslan Atakishiyev will say lectures to the entrepreneurs of 6 regional centre's cities on business environment and "Doing Business" indicators. Also expert will gather proposals of entrepreneurs on more developing of business environment in Azerbaijan.
05.09.08— GERC joined to the Global Compact Initiative
GERC wrote a letter to UN and asked them to join GERC to the Global Compact Initiative. Taking into consideration activity of GERC UN local representative on THE Initiative ratified our participation in it.

31.07.08— GERC presented consulting service on “Legal status of inspections of state organizations in enterprises”.
Consulting service on “Legal status of inspections of state organizations in enterprises” GERC conducted a research on legal base of state inspections and gave concrete proposals about development of efficiency of state inspections in ecology, sanitaria, standardization and fire safety. This service was ordered by the Aid Fund for Development of Market Economy and implemented from 30.06.08 till 30.07.08.
30.08.07 — GERC and US Embassy signed grant agreement.
According to agreement GERC carried out the project called “Increasing the awareness of private sector on benefits of WTO accession”. During the project seminars on “Increasing the awareness of private sector on benefits of WTO” will be organized in Baku, Lenkoran, Sheki, Ali Bayramli and Ganja and TV tock-show will be carried out in ITV.
